VCI paper is a functional protective packaging material made by coating VCI (VCI (English abbreviation of VCI) on neutral base paper and performing serial processing. Its core technology is embodied in VCI.
In the sealed packaging space, the corrosion-inhibiting gas factor that VCI volatilizes automatically at room temperature is adsorbed on the metal surface to form a molecular-level protective layer to achieve the purpose of rust prevention.
When VCI paper came out, it was the first to be used for long-term sealing and packaging of ordnance equipment. Such as firearms, cartridges, artillery, large parts of aircraft engines and crews, tanks, armored vehicles, ship accessories, radio radar equipment, etc.
Later, it expanded to automobiles, tractors, machine tools, motors, bearings, measuring tools, cutting tools, metal hardware tools, and even surgical blades, sewing needles, clock components, etc.
After entering the 1980s, the cold-rolled, cold-drawn sheet and strip, pipes, and wires of metallurgical industrial products at home and abroad have successively adopted vapor phase anti-corrosion paper as inner packaging materials. At the same time, it also promotes the development of VCI paper production.
The use of vapor phase anti-corrosion paper to package metal materials and mechanical and electrical products has the advantages of simple operation, saving man-hours, reducing labor intensity, and can make the packaged mechanical and electrical products clean and beautiful, free from oil contamination.
Because the vapor phase corrosion inhibitor gas is permeable, it is particularly suitable for the anti-rust packaging of electromechanical products with complex shapes and structures.
The use of vapor phase anti-corrosion paper packaging does not require pre-coating oil on the metal surface. Compared with other anti-rust materials, the use of vapor-phase anti-corrosion paper packaging has a good anti-rust effect and a long anti-rust period.
Generally, the period of commercially available vapor-phase anti-rust paper can reach 2 to 3 years. Efficient and long-lasting VCI paper can reach more than ten years.
