What is “VCI”?

VCI is the abbreviation of Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor, that is, volatile corrosion inhibitor.

Usually, kraft paper and polyethylene film are used as the carrier, and the VCI molecules sufficient to deal with rust are vaporized into the air under atmospheric pressure and adsorbed on the metal surface to form a shielding layer, and the rust is inhibited.

VCI paper has been in existence for more than 50 years.

It was first adopted by the US military and then used for civilian use. Jiapu Antirust is an excellent enterprise that transforms metal antirust from military to civilian use.

It has made outstanding achievements among many antirust brands and has provided antirust lubrication products for many customers in Europe and Asia. It is praised by the industry as an “antirust lubrication” expert”.

Under what conditions are the metal most prone to rust?

In the process of packaging, storage, and manufacturing of raw materials, if metal is exposed for a long time, it may come into contact with water and air, and it is easy to rust. Metal is most prone to rust under the following three conditions:

When metals are in a humid environment, metals are easily eroded by oxygen in the water to form oxides, and metals are easily oxidized in a humid environment.

Metal in a high-temperature environment: In the same environment, the higher the temperature, the more active the metal molecules are, and the easier it is to react with surface oxidation.

Metals are surrounded by corrosive gases and liquids: in the presence of an acid, alkali gas or seawater, and other corrosive gases or liquids, the molecules on the metal surface will destroy the previous equilibrium state due to chemical reactions. Then become active, and it is easier to oxidize with the oxygen in the air.

How does VCI work?

VCI can be directly vaporized at room temperature, and through continuous volatilization in a sealed environment, any space gap in the packaging unit is filled with mixed gas containing VCI corrosion inhibitor components.

This gas and the metal surface, the VCI molecules are concentrated and decomposed by the existing moisture, forming free protective ions into the electrolyte.

The ions in the electrolyte react with the VCI ions to replace the metal molecules attached to the metal surface, and the electrochemical reaction that inhibits metal corrosion occurs.

The VCI molecules will slowly volatilize, so that the packaging space is always in a “saturated” state, achieving a long-term stable anti-rust effect. Jiapu VCI products have comprehensive anti-rust performance, prevent corrosion in all directions, and leave no dead ends.
